The Zaphir wind chime is a real musical instrument. Every part has been hand-assembled by qualified artisans according to the original Shanti design in their workshop at the foot of the Pyrenees.

Eight cords are welded with silver to a metal plate at the bottom of the resonance tube. Accurately tuned, a play of bright, overtone-rich tones is created. The overtones of the shorter cords gradually begin to dominate, becoming the keynote. Each chime has a specific magical timbre and can be played together with the other types. Move the gong gently on its string, or let it play with the wind suspended from the ceiling, a wall or a branch. A crystal-clear relaxing sound will soon enchant you. This and a new way of tuning gives the sound even more depth and richer overtones.

Thin pressed layers of long-fibre celluloid board create the perfect acoustic properties for the warm timbre and crystalline sounds Zaphir Chimes are known for. Most of the materials used are natural, recyclable, of European origin and comply with EU standards. The protective varnish and paint layers of the sound tube are ecological. The wooden parts are coated with wax.

All wind chimes have the same dimensions. The length is +/- 125 mm, the diameter +/- 65 mm. The sound of the Zaphir wind chime is also absolutely wonderful for children. But for safety reasons, they should not be given in the hands of children under 4-5 years old.

Outdoor use

Despite the layer of ecologic varnish and paint that has been applied on the parts of the chime - as is often done with objects hung outside - a regular maintenance with varnish or oil will help protect your Zaphir chime. Still, it cannot prevent the negative effects of outdoor weather conditions. Suspended outside, like under a porch or any slightly protected place, the chime will play for many years to come.

Not a toy !

Children love the crystal-clear sound of our chimes. However, the instrument is not a toy for children under 4-5 years old.

Please note: The Zaphir windchimes come in 21 different marble-design colours (see above). The colours are therefore not linked to a particular melody. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to have all melodies available in all colours. If you do not immediately specify a specific shade in the comments section of your order, we will send you the Zaphir in a colour that is in stock with us.
