The High Spirits Red Tail Hawk in the key of "G" minor has a soothing, melodic voice. Because it is deeper in tone than the Sparrow Hawk "A", first time players are attracted to this key.

Crafted from domestic, aromatic cedar, a softwood, this wooden flute is sealed with non-toxic oils which give it a warm, resonant and full voice.

The Red Tail Hawk flute is a good accompaniment flute for the Contra Bass "G" flute and the Pocket Flute in the key of "G". Being a very versatile key, it plays well with other instruments and works well with many different styles of music expression - Native style, romantic, blues, jazz, etc...

This flute is best for those with medium to larger hands.

The flute is tuned in the key of "G" minor and can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "A#"/"Bb".

It is a 6-hole flute. We cover the 3rd hole from the top of the flute (known as the 6th hole) with a leather tie, giving you the option to use it as a 6-hole or a 5-hole flute.

This flute is 23.5 inches (60 cm) long.
